Beijing, China | 17-19 September 2025

ICE2025 Beijing

Previously held in Bournemouth (UK), Macao (China), Orlando (USA), Cape Town (South Africa) and Warsaw (Poland), this edition is hosted by the Beijing International Studies University (BISU), the People's Republic of China.

Beijing is calling!

The multifaceted nature of events encompasses sports, cultural festivals, conferences and exhibitions, entertainment events, concerts, themed catering functions, among many others. Technology brings us closer than ever, yet modern considerations such as geo-politics, travel costs and environmental issues are at play, shaping the role of events in societies as much as how they influence event participation. Like in previous editions, this conference features a diverse range of presentations and workshops related to different aspects of events.

We cordially invite you to submit an abstract related to, but not limited only within, the following themes:

  • Asian perspectives of festivals and events
  • Chinese culture and events in modern China
  • City events and eventful cities
  • Crises, disasters, safety and resilience
  • Digitality and technology and artificial intelligence in events
  • Equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Event experience and meanings
  • Event education and best practices
  • Event futures and legacies
  • Event tourism and the experience economy
  • Events as catalysts for change and regeneration
  • Events to foster wellness, wellbeing and quality of life
  • Governance and event policies
  • History, heritage and cultural events
  • Hybrid, online and event space
  • Industry collaborations and partnerships
  • Innovation and event design
  • Interdisciplinary nature and methodologies in events
  • Meetings, Incentives, Conferences/Conventions and Exhibitions
  • Sports and leisure events
  • Sustainable development goals and events
  • Events and supporting industries (NEW)

Key dates:

Abstract submission is on a rolling basis until

30 May 2025

Notification of acceptance will be issued within 2 weeks of abstract submission.

Full paper submission (optional):

30 June 2025

Each submitted work will go through a review process by the Scientific Committee to ensure quality and adherence to the conference theme. All references should be in the latest APA format. All papers and presentations in English language only. There is no need to define sections or subsections in the abstract but as a whole the abstract should include the following:

  • Purpose and relevance of the study - clearly articulate the purpose of your study and its significance within the relevant field or discipline.
  • Critique of literature - provide a brief overview or critique of the existing literature or theoretical frameworks related to your study.
  • Methodology employed in the study - describe the research methodology, approach, or framework utilised in your study. Highlight any innovative or unique aspects.
  • Findings and original contribution to the field - present the key findings, results, or outcomes of your study. Emphasise how your work contributes to the field.

Please ensure your abstract is concise, well-structured, and coherent. Use clear language and avoid excessive technical terminology. Remember to focus on the most relevant and impactful aspects of your study within the limited word count.

At least one author of each submission must register for the conference and is invited to deliver a 15-minute presentation. Please include full contact details of all authors and co-authors (names, affiliations, email addresses, and other relevant information to facilitate effective communication).
